Teaching

In my teaching, I am committed to showing my students that philosophy is a discipline with great contemporary relevance. I aim to teach them critical thinking skills by cultivating in them a genuine concern for public issues. The current version of my Introduction to Philosophy course includes topics such as the philosophy of pandemics, homelessness, abortion, implicit bias, misinformation, and echo chambers or epistemic bubbles. I expose my students to a diverse range of viewpoints, including views of historically underrepresented philosophers. For example, I have students read excerpts from Charles Mills’ The Racial Contract after reading Hobbes and Locke on the social contract.
